JOHN SULLIVAN KENNY has been associated with the firm since 1986 and a partner and shareholder since 1988. Mr. Kenny is recognized throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon for his expertise in land use, municipal law, construction disputes and business litigation.
Mr. Kenny received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco. He received his Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. He served active duty as a Captain in the United States Army Infantry.
From 1970 to 1978 Mr. Kenny was a Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. He was attorney for the $2 billion San Francisco wastewater management project and the $100 million George Moscone Convention Center. From 1978 to 1986 Mr. Kenny served as County Counsel for the County of Shasta.
Mr. Kenny is a member of the State Bar of California, United States District Court, Northern and Eastern District Courts, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court, American Arbitration Association Public Law Section, and Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association.
Mr. Kenny presently sits on the Board of Directors for Northern Valley Catholic Social Services, Shasta Community Health Center, and Catholic Schools of Northern Sacramento Valley, Inc.. He is the recipient of the 2001 State Bar of California Board of Governors President’s Pro Bono Service Award and has received an “AV” rating and rates Highest Possible Peer Review Rating in Legal Ability & Ethical Standard from Martindale-Hubbell for more than 20 years. He is the recipient of 2013 St. Thomas More Award of the Diocese of Sacramento.
